Sectoral Regulation on Disputes for Dutch Universities 2020 Last Friday, 5 June, the social partners reached a final agreement on the UN-CAO. The new CAO-NU will run from January 1, 2020 to January 1, 2021. The main features of the CAO-NU agreement are listed below: the amount of staff costs to be financed can be included in the pay tables of the Association of Dutch Universities (Dutch acronym VSNU).

The salary scales were agreed in the scientific research funding agreement and are based on the collective agreement (caO) of Dutch universities. The approval of funding for scientific research defines the mutual obligations concerning staff recruited by the institutions to carry out research funded by the Netherlands Research Council (NWO, Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek).
